U turns and Detours on the Road of Life...
Well, it has been a while since my last post, to say the least... Just to catch you up, I have pretty much came full circle. Since we last talked, I am once again working full time in the hospital setting. I have continued to explore photography, with the addition of Reiki and herbalism added to my interests. I have completed a Reiki I training with a local instructor, a Family Herbalism course with a herbalist in the area and I am currently studying an online herbalism program with "the mother of herbalism", Rosemary Gladstar. I completed the photography classes at the local college, then as it does, life happened, and changed my course. I had the opportunity to stay at home and be a full time parent, which I appreciate and cherish that time greatly, as now my husband and I are "empty nesters." I have had the privilege of traveling, spending time with friends and family and living life on my own terms...( I have a wonderfully loving and supportive husband!) As I mentioned previously, I have came full circle and feel drawn to pursuing my photography path once again. While I never really put my camera down completely, I did allow myself to get side tracked and detour to other destinations...my hope for the remained of the year, is to once again become active with my photography and have a small home photography studio...I will keep you posted.

Never enough time...
It's been awhile since I have blogged anything. To be honest, the concept of blogging is still a little weird for me. I feel like I should start each post with "dear diary". Things around here have been busy...my semester is coming to a close and I plan to focus on my photography and spend some much needed time with family over summer break. Most of my free time has been spent watching online workshops, tutorials, etc... so I need to get caught up on my 52 week project.
I am excited about a new opportunity I have been given...it is still in the planning stages, but when it comes together, it will be a great learning experience. I will keep you posted!
My photography class recently went to a local studio for a tour and to sponge some knowledge from the photographer. It was a lot of fun and we took pictures of each other, to better understand how our clients feel when they are in front of the camera with a potential audience. Feel free to comment or offer constructive criticism. The first photo is me, taken by my friend Sarah and I did the edits. I took the second photo of my friend Brian and this is the image SOOC.

Hollywood Lighting
My recent class assignment dealt with Hollywood style lighting...I really enjoyed learning some new lighting techniques, seeing as how I am currently an on location/natural light photographer. The following are a few of the photographs from the class...

Starts with "P"...
There's not alot going on around here today. I have spent most of my day looking for something that starts with the letter "P" to photograph for the 52 Week Capture Challenge. That sounds simple enough, however it took me awhile to decide on my object.
I have also been browsing the Internet looking for actions/ textures to use on my photographs. If anyone stopping by can recommend someone that would be great!

I am looking forward to class on Wednesday

Hello and welcome to my blog
First, thank you for stopping by and checking out my blog...my name is Raye and I am pursuing a freelance photography career. I am a student at the local college and one of my assignments this semester is to create a blog, so here I am...My intent is to keep this blog photography related, that being said, I tend to ramble about life in general and other things I find interesting. I am married to a wonderful man, we have two sons and prior to photography I worked as a psychiatric nurse.
This new journey has been exciting for me...I hope you will travel along as I stumble thru life and chase my dreams!
